Complex Care

Our deep concern for our patients.

Complex Care

The purpose of respite care is to provide a patient’s regular caregivers with a break from the pressures of providing such care. It can be cognitively, physically, and emotionally taxing to care for a loved one. Family members and other permanent carers will eventually need a break from these duties when that care becomes prolonged or indefinite in length. The respite care services offered by St Vieve Healthcare can help with that.

The types of care programs are numerous. It might entail the temporary placement of caregivers so that you (or you and the person being cared for) can take a well-deserved vacation while knowing that your loved one is in capable hands. It might entail planning a brief residential stay while you take a break from the demands of full-time care, or it might involve a regular arrangement where a carer visits for a few hours to take care of your loved one, take them to a nearby activity, or otherwise attend to their needs to give you some time to yourself.

Does scheduling respite care have an impact on my Carer’s Allowance?

There isn’t a straightforward response, so we’d have to talk about it after learning more about your circumstances. Generally speaking, though, you are still eligible to earn your full Carer’s Allowance if you take a break for up to 4 weeks within any six-month period.

Call us on phone if you’d like to speak with one of our committed nurses about the possibilities of setting up respite care without incurring any costs or obligations. If it turns out that respite care is the best option for you and your family, we can then set up a thorough evaluation and the development of a personalized care plan.
